To celebrate America’s Semiquincentennial, this class will explore the most prominent American painters and paintings produced over the past 250 years. Each class will focus on a 50-year period – beginning with Charles Willson Peale’s 1776 portrait of George Washington and ending with Kerry James Marshall’s “Haul” painted in 2025 for an exhibit at the Royal Academy of Art, London.
