ClassGraphic This course is designed to teach the community and professionals how to respond when a person is developing a mental health problem or experiencing a mental health crisis.
Please note - This course does not teach how to diagnose or counsel, but how to help a person needing early intervention or crisis assistance.
Participants will:
•    Understand the prevalence of mental illness in the United States.
•    Understand the importance of stigma reduction.
•    Learn risk factors and warning signs of specific illnesses such as anxiety, depression, self-injury, eating disorders, psychosis and addiction.
•    Engage in experiential activities that build understanding of the impact of illness.
•    Learn a five-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources and knowledge to assess the situation, to select and implement appropriate interventions, and to help the individual in crisis connect with the appropriate professional care.
Manual and lunch included.
Prior to the training, you will receive an email with instructions to complete pre-work online. If this pre-work is not completed, you will not be able to attend the training.
