ClassGraphic Sometimes it feels like the world is falling apart at the seams. While civilization-ending disasters are fortunately very rare, there are any number of smaller issues like fires, floods, and tornadoes that can be hugely disruptive on an individual or local level. In this introductory course, we will examine the basics of preparing for a disaster, such as creating an all-hazards plan and emergency kit. Since different disasters require different responses, students will examine when to shelter in place and when to evacuate. We will also discuss other skills that may be useful both in the case of disasters and in our everyday life.
