Drawing Animals and Faces
Draw a portrait/image of your favorite animal or pet. You will focus on facial features, head shape, and light to create works of art. Join us and discover the artist in you!
 
River Rhythms: A Musical Journey Along the Mississippi
This immersive experience invites you to explore the diverse genres of American music along the riverbanks of the Mississippi, from soulful blues and jazz to the lively beats of rock n’ roll and country. Through hands-on activities, you will learn about the milestones of American music but also discover cultural influences that shaped each musical era from the Delta to New Orleans. Get ready to make music and memories that will last a lifetime!
 
Coding for Kids with Scratch Coding
Computer science and computer programming help nurture your problem-solving skills, logic, and creativity. This fun, interactive class will teach you the concepts of computer logic, coding, and programming. By being exposed to and familiarizing you to coding, you will have a foundation for success in any future career path. Your parents will need to set up a free account at scratch.mit.edu/join for you. Bring the username and password with you on the first day of class.
 
Intro to Robotics
This class is a beginning introduction to robots, sensors, and programming using Lego Spike Prime Robotics System. You will construct basic model robots to attach touch, light, sound, and ultrasonic sensors. You will learn to program the Spike Prime model robots using the sensors to complete mini-challenges.
 
Recycled Art
Discover your creative side making projects that use common objects or discarded materials to create recycled art. You will make animals from everyday materials; discover the many items you can make out of egg cartons and create an art piece that can be used as a decoration in your home.
 
DIY Fashion
Learn creative and simple ways to add originality and pizzazz to your wardrobe from head to toe. You will create new accessories and make a bag to add to your fashion collection. These do-it-yourself fashions will make your wardrobe look fresh and leave you with the enthusiasm to create even more after the class. You will need to bring an old T-shirt on the first day. Adult size preferred, any color – as long as it’s a T-shirt you no longer need.
 
Explore Engineering
Explore the realm of building structures and learn about the principles of architectural, civil, and structural engineering. Through constructing buildings of our own, we will discover the balance between form, function, and stability- all important in engineering. Through different activities, you will team up to put their knowledge and applications to the test to overcome real challenges that impact the world around us!

Please read:  Last day to receive a refund/register, Friday, June 14. Once you register, a class selection sheet will be mailed to you for you to number your top selections, with #1 being your 1st choice and #7 being your last choice. Every effort will be made to enroll you in your top choices. Students will attend the same three consecutive classes during the four days. Classes will be held in-person at the BHC Outreach Center, 301 Avenue of the Cities, East Moline, IL. Each class is 1 hour and 15 minutes.
